OUTREACH
We’ve customized outreach into three flight options to fit the make up of students that you will bring this summer. For some of you, servant evangelism and outreach of this kind is new territory for your group. We strongly recommend (1) Outreach Classic. Your group is going to have an awesome experience with our very best, tried and true, outreaches at the hottest locations around town. For those groups who have been coming to SOS for years, we’ve created (2) E2 and partner projects. Your group will be E2 all the time. Each day will be determined from times listening to God and responding to His leading. We will also wrap several unique, new-to-SOS outreaches into this package. The third option, Outreach Freestyle, is for groups who want a taste of both experiences…the best of both worlds, so to speak. Classic, guaranteed outreaches and totally Freestyle, “if God doesn’t show up we’re screwed”, opportunities to love the people of Cincinnati. We affectionately call this (3) Outreach Hybrid.
SOS Classic –
This is the same SOS experience that we all know and love. Students will cycle through four different outreaches with a new experience each day. Outreaches will be completely planned out and queued up for students to “plug and play”. Outreaches for this track include the following:
- Block Party
- Car Wash / Drink Giveaway
- Kindness / Love Lincoln Heights
- Healing Center / World Vision Experience & Outreach Prep
If you are a first timer at SOS we highly recommend this option.
SOS Hybrid –
We realize that there are some groups that have been coming to SOS for several years and are ready to shake things up a little. Your experience will be very similar to that of SOS Classic but with the added twist of a Partner Project. This year SOS will be reaching out to a number of amazing partners who are on the frontlines each day serving those in need. We will be mobilizing students to come along side these amazing partners by serving them at their location on projects that they determine to best advance their ministry. Your week will include the following:
- E2
- Kindness / Love Lincoln Heights
- Healing Center / World Vision Experience & Outreach Prep
- Partner Project
SOS Freestyle –
This flight is ideal for those who thrive in a changing environment. We will leave ample room for the leading of the Holy Spirit, and the group’s response to it. Your week will include two days of E2 and two days of a partner project.
E2 is the “Evangelism Experiment” wherein students will go through prayer training to learn how to hear from God and how to let the Holy Spirit lead them. Students will then be able to respond and shape their outreach based on what they heard from God.
As we mentioned in they Hybrid flight, we will be reaching out to a number of amazing partners who are on the frontlines each day serving those in need. We will be mobilizing students to come along side these amazing partners by serving them at their location on projects that they determine to best advance their ministry. As a part of the Freestyle flight you will be paired with the same partner organization for both days, allowing you to gain real insight into what their ministry is like, and to better identify with those you serve. Our partners will range from organizations that work to equip those in poverty, who fight social injustice, to those who work to empower individuals with special needs.
Special Ops –
We realize that there are students with disabilities who would love to be a part of the SOS experience. That being said we also understand that there are aspects of the SOS schedule that would make this a challenge as there are a number of daily transitions that can make for a rough week to navigate for some students. In order to make sure that we are creating space for students with special needs to have an awesome experience we are offering SOS Special Ops. If you and your student feel that they would have a better week by selecting one of the following options, please feel free to do so.

Option A –
I like to have a pretty predictable schedule. I would like to do the same type of thing every day so I know what to expect. That’s the SOS I’m looking for!
If this is the option you would prefer, please select one of the following modules to repeat each day.
· Drink Giveaways & Car Wash – This module involves spending one half of the day giving drinks to folks at local intersections, and the other half of the day running a FREE Car Wash.
· Healing Center & World Vision – This is a day where students remain on the VCC campus to serve at the Healing Center and go through an interactive prayer experience from our partners at World Vision. Students will also assist with outreach prep to support a number of the initiatives that will take place throughout the week.
· Kindness & Love Lincoln Heights – This is an outreach where students will spend half of the day doing kindness type projects (such as Tide giveaways, etc.) throughout the city, and will then do a project with our partners in Lincoln Heights.
· Block Party – This module is for the Party Animal! We will be converging on a low income neighborhood to throw a huge party complete with a FREE car wash to show God’s love in a fun and practical way!
· Partner Project – We will be partnering with a number of organizations and sending students to do large scale projects over the course of the week. If you would like to be assigned to one location to work on the same project for the week then this is a great option for you.
· E2 – This will be an outreach that looks very different each day. Students will be doing a variety of outreaches at a number of locations based on some prayer exercises and direction prompted by the Holy Spirit.
Option B -
I would like to choose one of the three SOS flight options just like my peers, but it would be easier for me if I had a familiar face with me every day. Please recruit an awesome volunteer to accompany me for the week.
