Free Time – after a long stretch of outreach, it’s time to kick back and relax, with OPTIONS! It’s usually HOT in June in Cincy so we’ll have some water powered inflatables (slip-n-slides, etc) to cool you down and others just for fun. The Student Union will provide you with 30,000 square feet of air-conditioned fun where you can chill, play hoops, video games (Wii, PS3, Xbox360), surf the web on your iTouch or iPhone, and buy snacks or dinner. Others will bring their skateboards/longboards and enjoy the large and sloping parking lot, while others will play some competitive volleyball. Of course, lots of students bring guitars and congas and end up having spontaneous worship in the hallways of VCC too. With hundreds of people around, fun isn’t far away.
Baptism – during the final Celebration on Friday evening, we give students and adults the opportunity to be baptized in water (immersion) to declare publicly their faith in Christ as Lord. Students under 18 will be required to gain parental release in order to be baptized at SOS.
Late Night @ the Student Union – Tuesday night is party night. Following the evening celebration, we’ll throw a bash at the Student Union complete with line dancing, dodgeball tourneys, hoops, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, food and a live band to be named later (we’re working on it…). The bash is optional, so you don’t have to come if you’re too tired or sleepy --- but we will have FUN! NEW for 2010: the Student Union has a full size SKATE PARK!!! Bring your board, helmet, signed waiver, and pads (mandatory). Skate or watch…it’ll be sweet.
Special Ops –We realize that there are students with disabilities who would love to be a part of the SOS experience. That being said we also understand that there are aspects of the SOS schedule that would make this a challenge as there are a number of daily transitions that can make for a rough week to navigate for some students. In order to make sure that we are creating space for students with special needs to have an awesome experience we are offering SOS Special Ops. If you and your student feel that they would have a better week by selecting one of the following options, please feel free to do so. |
